Samsung Galaxy S9 Rumors: On the Fingerprint Sensor and the Camera
After suffering through a debacle caused by the exploding Note 7, Samsung is determined to repair their reputation through their most recent flagship release. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has officially landed in stores last Sept. 15, and it has so far garnered positive reviews from the critics despite Apple's most recent reveal of the iPhone X. As users enjoy the latest in the Note series, the rumor mill is starting to fill up with speculations of Samsung will fight in the competition with the upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.
Given that most critics did not like the fingerprint sensor placed at the rear of the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, and Note 8, rumors indicate that the tech giant will most likely be joining the screen-based biometric bandwagon. It would only make sense that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will banish the annoying feature to compete with Apple's iPhone X. This will allow the tech giant to keep the near bezel-less display, and at the same time, offer a truly competitive hardware.
According to ETNews, Samsung is currently developing a three-layered image sensor, which will allow the next flagship of the tech giant to shoot videos at an astounding rate of 1,000 frames per second. Mass production of the technology is slotted for November, and it is expected to soundly beat the current capabilities of Apple's iPhone X.
Although the upgrade of the sensor sounds like a dream come true for users who mainly need their phones to function as a camera, integrating it into the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 is another story altogether. The developers will have to make sure that there is enough space in the hardware, as well as offer the smartphone at a storage level that will support what the image sensor requires.
There is no official release date yet for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. However, fans are expecting more details to be unveiled in the coming months and early next year.
