This corresponds to the company's naming pattern for the product line. The Samsung Galaxy S8 came with the model number SM-G950X while its big brother had SM-G955X.

It is believed that with the tech firm already working on the Samsung Galaxy S9, it is expected that the flagship will see the light of day much earlier than its predecessor did.

Users will remember that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus were unveiled in March and hit the stores by April although these devices are a special case because they served as the redeeming grace for the company following the disastrous release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

The company took extra time to put the handsets together to make sure that the debacle does not happen again. Originally, Samsung released new S-series offerings as early as February, which was the case with the Samsung Galaxy S7.

Reports are suggesting that the flagship will be released on the said month, which means that Samsung could slowly be returning to its original release pattern for the Samsung Galaxy S9. For now, however, nothing is set in stone yet as Samsung is yet to detail its plans about their next big releases.

As far as specs go, the Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and the Exynos 9810 chipset paired with 6 GB of random-access memory (RAM). It is imagined to boast a dual camera setup and a tall bezel-less display.
