Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Android 4.1, JellyBean Update Rolls Out in US

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Android 4.1.1, JellyBean update is now available in the U.S. with the update being released for both the 7-inch and 10.1-inch models.

The update has been made available over-the-air, and improves the overall performance of the tablet as well as bringing new features such as expandable and actionable notifications, resizable widgets, Google Now, and other enhancements.

Users of the Galaxy Tab 2 in the U.S. can either wait for the update to show up on their device or check for it manually. In order to find it manually users must visit Settings>About Device>Software update. This should bring it up and they can begin downloading and installing once it is found.

The update began rolling out for the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1 in other parts of the world during November but the U.S. release has been held back until now, with the United States release only beginning from Jan. 11. However, that update was just available for the Wi-Fi only version of the two tablets. But from today it appears to be available for all versions.

The JellyBean update will also be coming to many Samsung Galaxy devices in the near future and the company released a list last year of which tablets and smartphones will receive it.

This list includes the Samsung Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Chat, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Beam, Galaxy Ace Plus, Galaxy Mini 2, Galaxy S Duos, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, and the Galaxy Note 10.1.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1, JellyBean update hit the U.S. last month. The Google Nexus 7 Android 4.2.1, JellyBean update is also now available.
