Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE Review
AT&T released the 8.9-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab for its 4G LTE network at the end of last year.
This tablet follows up the 10.1 and 7-inch versions creating a size that is not too bulky, but big enough to satisfy the customer. Samsung seems to be looking for a niche in the market and is experimenting with size.
The Christian Post recently got its hands on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 thanks to AT&T and found that the electronics giant has created a convenient and fully functional device. Here is a breakdown and review of some of the device's features.
Speed
In many ways the 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab functions as a giant Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. Both are 4G LTE, both look identical in terms of design and both include a dual-core 1.5GHz processor. The Tab can perform tasks at impressive speeds with little to no lagging. Multi-tasking is also made simple thanks to the powerful processor. It certainly put the device ahead of the curve in its market when it was first released. The 4G LTE connection also comes in handy which provides for lightning speeds when using the internet. However, maintaining a connection to the LTE network in the New York City area proved to be quite difficult for the device.
Display
Its display is crisp, showing gaming and video in high definition. The 8.9-inch version packs 1,280x800 pixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The LCD screen provides users with video that is on par with some mid-level high-definition televisions. Watching or playing anything on the Tab proves to be an enjoyable experience.
Battery
The tablet's battery has an average life span. Within a day of using the device at a moderate level the battery dropped just below 50 percent. That kind of information you could find on any review. However, with little to no use of the tablet it seemed to last about three days long without needing a charge.
Camera
The Samsung Galaxy Tab's Camera takes decent photos for a 3.2-megapixel shooter. The images it captures have good detail and a darker shade in terms of coloring. In other words colors do not appear as vibrant as they would on other devices. The pictures taken on the tablet are similar to those taken on other Samsung devices such as the Galaxy S2, but the smartphone has a slight advantage since it has an 8-megapixel shooter.
Software
The tablet runs on Android 3.2, Honeycomb combined with Samsung's TouchWiz interface. It makes for a convenient experience.
Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 for AT&T is an impressive and efficient tablet. It is priced between $400 and $500 with a new two-year agreement and is well worth the price. For customers looking for a tablet that is the perfect size and can still run at a level comparable to the iPad, this tablet is a great buy.
