Samsung Galaxy Tab S vs Asus VivoTab Note 8 Comparison: Review of Specs and Price

When it comes to tablets, some people need a bigger screen to really get the most out of the gadget, since videos and games definitely look better on a large display.

Here, we pit two tablets with large displays against each other — one runs on the Android 4.4.2, while the other runs on Windows 8. Here's a rundown of the specs and features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S and the Asus VivoTab Note 8.

Design:
The Galaxy Tab S takes its design cues from the Galaxy S5 with a slightly textured back. It is available in titanium bronze and white, and measures 9.74 x 6.98 x 0.26 inches and weighs 16.47 ounces.

The VivoTab Note 8 has a matte-black polycarbonate back and measures 8.70 x 5.27 x 0.43 inches and weighs 13.40 ounces.

Features:
The Samsung tablet has a 10.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600. The AMOLED display makes a lot of difference when watching a movie, as images look sharper and colors look richer as compared to other tablets' screens. It's powered by an Exynos 5 Octa core processor, and runs on the Android 4.4.2.

The tablet can be used as a speakerphone, and it comes with an 8MP main camera and 1MP front-facing camera. The device comes with an internal storage of 32GB which can be expanded with a microSD card.

Meanwhile, the Asus tablet has an 8-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800. It's a five-point touch screen, and Asus included a stylus which can be stored in a special slot in the tablet's chassis. It has an Intel Atom quad-core processor and it runs on Windows 8.

The device has an internal memory of 64GB and it has a microSD slot. The 5MP main camera is fine for taking quick pictures in well-lit areas, and it also has a 1.2MP front-facing camera.

Price:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S costs $499, while the Asus ViVoTab Note 8 costs $329.
