Samsung Gear A Release Date, Specs News: Launch of Smartwatch Could Be Here
Ever since Motorola unleashed its Moto 360 smart watch that focused more on style rather than functionality, more and more smart watch makers are following its footsteps.
In fact, even Samsung, which is considered among the pioneers in the smart watch industry a few years ago, has been releasing circular smart watches that boast style and can be used not only for technology purposes, but also as a fashion statement.
And it seems the Korean manufacturer will continue in its path with the upcoming Galaxy Gear A.
According to several reports and rumors, the Galaxy Gear A will be announced tomorrow, Aug. 13, together with the the Galaxy Note 5 and possibly even the Galaxy S6 Edge+, which have been in the rumor mill for weeks.
Dubbed as 'Orbis', the upcoming smart watch will run on Tizen OS instead of Android Wear. In the report by Gotta Be Mobile, some unique aspects of the device include a rotating bezel, which reportedly has a function of its own.
Other rumored specs of the Samsung Galaxy Gear A smart watch include a 1.16-inch Super AMOLED display with 360 x 360 resolution, 4GB internal storage, a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, Samsung's Exynos chipset, and 768MB of RAM.
The device is said to run on a 250mAh battery, packs some of the usual sensors, supports wireless charging, and comes with the a heart sensor.
In the report, the Samsung Galaxy Gear A is expected to make its debut together with the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, and the Galaxy Tab S2 tomorrow. However, the device is set to be released on the market by August 21, as mentioned by a report. It revealed that Samsung is already accepting pre-orders for the device.
Expected pricing for the Galaxy Gear A is around $249 to $299, as mentioned in the Gotta Be Mobile report.
