Samsung Gear VR updates: Gear VR to be retailed at $99!

Gear VR is the new milestone for both Oculus and Samsung.

The newly announced VR headset is the first of its kind to be released without a "Development Kit" label or a safety net of an "Innovator Edition," according to The Verge's report.

The Gear VR is said to be at the start of the holiday season, and the leading Korean electronics company, Samsung, is hoping for the device to be this year's best-selling gift item. The headset is also said to be priced at only $99, which is half the cost of the Innovator Edition.

The new VR headset is also said to be compatible with any of Samsung's four new smartphones, which are the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy S6 Edge+, and the Galaxy Note 5.

Fans were surprised, though, that the new mock-up model that was released pre-production was almost the same as the old Gear VR version. One of the differences between the old Gear VR, which is scattered all around at Oculus, and the new Gear VR is that the side track pad of the new device has now a shallow, cross-shaped imprint.

Other changes that were made in the new version are the straps and the padding. The foam pads are made with softer fabric, and the white plastic that used to cover the head straps in the old Gear VR are now gone. As promised by Samsung, the new Gear VR is now improved with greater comfort.

One of the best features of the new Gear VR is that it can now support multiple handsets. Before, users have to use a pair of clamps to fit their Galaxy Note. The new VR headset will now have a slider that moves the clamps, which will allow multiple phones to fit.

The Gear VR is set to be released this November, and experts are still expecting that changes may still happen in between.
