Samsung News: Galaxy Note Edge Ads Slam Apple Over iPhone 6 Plus 'Bendgate'
When Samsung released its Samsung Galaxy Note Edge earlier this month, the smartphone made a lot of headlines because of two things: one, because of the phone's unique edge-curved screen, and because by October, it will be launched first in South Korea only.
Now, it has been reported that the Galaxy Note Edge was a "limited-edition concept," not intended for the mass market, according to ZDNet Korea.
This isn't the first time that Samsung released a limited edition curved device. It can be recalled that the company launched the Galaxy Round last year, and it wasn't widely available as well.
According to BGR.com, Samsung appears to have stepped up its promotions and marketing for the handset though it will be a limited edition phone. This week, the company referenced Apple and its iPhone 6 "Bendgate" fiasco, wherein users of the Apple Plus 6 found out that the phones got bent when they were placed inside pockets.
Samsung took to Twitter to promote the Note Edge by posting, "Curved. Not Bent."
The Galaxy Note Edge will feature a 5.7-inch screen that curves over to the right side of the phone. The new design reportedly enables easier access to applications.
Another feature of the phone is the heartrate monitor on the chassis, which also acts as a trigger button for taking selfies.
The S-Pen has also improved and has two extra pen styles, the fountain and highlighter. It can also be used as a mouse so it's easy to take screen grabs from websites and make a clippings service.
The Galaxy Note Edge will be powered by a 2.7GHz quad-core processor, along with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB or 64GB internal storage.
There is no word yet when the phone will be available in the U.S., but it will be directly available from AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint in the future.
