San Antonio Spurs vs Miami Heat in the NBA Finals 2013 Game 7 takes place on Thursday, and will have millions of basketball fans all across the globe tuning in to see who will come out on top as this dramatic, marathon series comes to its climax. The game is scheduled to tip off at 9 p.m. ET.
Nothing has been able to separate these two teams all series long, but something will have to give way tonight in this winner takes all Game 7.
Both teams have shown signs of brilliance through this series, but neither has been able to put any room between themselves and the opposition.
The Spurs won a dramatic Game 1 92-88 in Miami, with Tony Parker sealing the win with an amazing shot in the final seconds. However, Game 2 saw the Heat come storming back with a blowout win, taking down the Spurs with a 103-84 win.
Many believed that the Spurs had inadvertently woken up the sleeping giant in Miami by stealing Game 1, and believed that Game 2 was clear evidence of this. That led some to predict that the Heat would go on to turn the screw and push on and extend a clear lead in the series.
However, things amazingly swung back in the Spurs' direction as the series went to San Antonio for Game 3, with the Spurs destroying the Heat in a way not many people have witnessed in recent times. They blew out Miami in an even more dramatic way than they had suffered in Game 2, and the final score ended 113-77 – a massive 36 point victory.
With the next two games set to take place in San Antonio many then predicted that the Spurs could win Game 4 and set themselves up with the chance to claim the title at home in Game 4. However, the series once again was turned on its head as the Heat won comfortably 109-93 to level the series 2-2.
Game 5 proved vital for the Spurs to win, as they did not want to return to Miami for Games 6 and 7 being behind and on the brink. They did what they needed to do in a high scoring Game 5, winning 114-104 to lead the series 3-2.
That meant the Spurs were able to go on the road to Miami with two chances to win the series.
Game 6 showed the Spurs doing everything in their power to try and end things there and then, and as the game entered the fourth quarter San Antonio held a 10 point lead and seemingly were on their way to stealing the NBA title away from Miami. But an amazing comeback in the fourth quarter, led by LeBron James, saw the Heat score a three pointer in the final seconds to level things up and send the game to overtime.
Fans were left out of breath as overtime went back and forth, but an amazing climax saw the Heat finally win by 103-100 to once again level the series and set up tonight's finale.
No one knows which way things will go tonight, and it is that unpredictability that will potentially attract record viewers for tonight's huge game.
