San Francisco 49ers NFL Trade and Roster Rumors: 49ers Not Looking to Trade Running Back Carlos Hyde
This is already a lost season for the rebuilding San Francisco 49ers, but tensions were high after their 26–23 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 8, and it had nothing to do with their inability to win games this year.
Three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Navorro Bowman and up-and-coming running back Carlos Hyde had expressed their displeasure over their lack of playing time after the game, and it didn't take long for the 49ers to make a move.
Days after the game, Bowman was placed on the trading block and he was eventually released. Will the 49ers move Hyde as well?
According to Mile High Sports Radio's Benjamin Allbright, the 49ers have already "received and made calls" involving Hyde. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported that the team hasn't had any discussions involving Hyde and they were not planning to trade him at the moment.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan also refuted Allbright's claim on Monday.
"Absolutely 100 percent false. Nothing true about that," Shanahan said, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Shanahan has also noted that Hyde will continue to start at running back for the 49ers.
"Hyde is who we go with. Hyde is who I expect to be out there and nothing has changed with that. But it depends on the fronts we're going against, what personnel groups we want in, the type of practice, the week of practice, how it's looked. And that really goes for all positions. But I definitely see Hyde as our first guy and Breida spelling him and (sending in) Raheem (Mostert) after that," Shanahan stated.
Hyde didn't ask Shanahan about the trade rumor, but he told the Sacramento Bee he has already spoken with 49ers general manager John Lynch and he was told that it wasn't true.
Rookie Matt Breida has played really well this season, but the 49ers are a little thin at running back right now. They just can't afford to move Hyde.
