The Chicago Bears are playing at home on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, in a battle of two teams with contrasting results last week. The 49ers lost a division matchup against the Cardinals and are hoping to redeem themselves, while the Bears won against the Packers to boost their confidence heading deeper into the season.
One problem the 49ers will face in this game is the fact that they're on the road. It really hasn't been that productive for them when they're playing away from home, with a horrible average of 35.0 points per game. The three victories so far in the season have been at Levi's Stadium.
Chicago hasn't been a great team this season either. Although last week's win against Green Bay is a morale-boosting one, it does not deny the fact that they're still under .500 at 5-6. Also, the team isn't playing the way they're supposed to in their own field. So it remains to be seen which struggle will end on Sunday — the 49ers' road woes or the Bears' home difficulties.
At 5-6, the Bears got three of their four wins on the road, something which is quite uncommon in the league, especially because the team actually lost 11 of their last 14 home games. This season, they're terrible at home, too, managing to win just one game and losing four. The bad news is they also are going to play at home in three more games this season.
The 49ers meanwhile are having a bad season. At 3-8, it's pretty difficult to think that they're going to have enough time to grab a playoff spot. If there is any indication how this game would turn out, then it should be interesting to know that they haven't won in Soldier Field in a very long time. In fact, they lost the last six trips there.
