San Francisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks takes place on Sunday Night Football in Week 2 of the NFL 2013 regular season tonight, with both teams looking to register their second win of the season. The game will start at 8.30 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).
This battle will help to determine who will take early control of the NFC West division, as these are widely considered to be the top two contenders for the divisional title this season.
Both the 49ers and Seahawks were playoff teams last season, and have both gotten off to good starts to the season with wins in Week 1.
Much of the result tonight will rest on how Colin Kaepernick plays and how the Seahawks' defense can handle him. He has proven to be a dynamic and extremely threatening quarterback, and if opposition defenses are not able to keep him pressured and tied up then he can wreak devastation.
Last season in the playoffs Kaepernick passed for 798 yards and rushed for 264 more, scoring seven total touchdowns. The 49ers will be hoping he can maintain that level of intensity and effectiveness this season, and if he can then San Francisco could be one of the main threats for this year's Super Bowl crown.
In Week 1 the 49ers took down the Green Bay Packers 34-28, which was a fantastic win against what many predict will be one of the league's best teams this year.
Kaepernick threw 27 completed passes from 39 attempts for 412 yards and three touchdowns last week. The total 494 yards gained by the 49ers was the second best in the NFL in week 1, and the pass yards of 404 yards was enough to rank them third in the league.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks won 12-7 last week against Carolina with Russell Wilson completing 25 from 33 throws for 320 yards and one touchdown.
