Sanctus Real Crowned Most Played Artist in U.S.

Sanctus Real, one of the biggest rock bands in Christian music this year, has become 2006’s most played artist in Christian radio in the U.S.

This adds on to the list of the band's accolades, including Gospel Music Association's 2005 Modern Rock Album of the Year Award and the most played Christian rock band of 2004.

Sanctus Real launched three CHR radio singles, “I’m Not Alright” and “The Face of Love," both from the current best-selling The Face of Love album, and “Closer,” from the acclaimed 2005 release Fight The Tide. A multi-format hit, “I’m Not Alright” also landed at No. 1 and No. 5 respectively on the year-end Christian Rock charts after spending six full weeks at No. 1 and becoming the band’s first MTVu video.

“2006 has been another banner year for Sanctus Real at radio,” says Grant Hubbard, EMI CMG Label Group VP National Promotion, in a news release. “Already established at Rock radio, The Face of Love has not only become the band’s best selling album to date, but has broadened the band’s appeal, winning fans at Rock, CHR and AC radio.”

Currently, the band is honoring fans with a new holiday contest, offering fans a chance to win an iPod when they sign up for the group’s free online newsletter. The winner will be named Dec. 20.

Up next, Sanctus Real will join Steven Curtis Chapman and Jeremy Camp as featured acts on the Winter Jam 2007 Tour Spectacular.
