Santorum Heads to The Tonight Show With Jay Leno

Former presidential hopeful Rick Santorum may have lost in the battle to become the Republican nominee to take on President Obama for the White House later this year, however, he is still in the public eye and is planning to go on the Jay Leno Show early next month.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno announced on Friday that the former Pennsylvania senator will appear on Leno's Burbank stage for the May 8 recording of the show.

The appearance by the devout Catholic will be his first on The Tonight Show, which airs on NBC.

Rick Santorum dropped out of the GOP race earlier in April after his daughter fell sick and rival Mitt Romney succeeded in bagging a number of primary victories. His decision to pull out basically left the way open for Romney to claim victory in the GOP race, with Newt Gingrich also set to officially withdraw this coming week, and Ron Paul not a serious contender against Romney's superior delegate count.

During his campaign Santorum was praised for sticking to his conservative values on issues such as abortion, but was also rebuked by others who disagreed with his strict stance to the issues.
