Sarah Jakes Lauded at Father TD Jakes' 'Woman Thou Art Loosed' Conference
Sarah Jakes, 24-year-old daughter of Bishop T.D. Jakes, recently received rave reviews after speaking at the annual "Woman, Thou Art Loosed!" conference, a feat that was accomplished only a few months after announcing her divorce from NFL linebacker Robert Henson.
The three-day conference drew a crowd of 25,000 women to Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Ga. While Jakes described the conference as "generations of women who have been touched by the power of the living God," it also served as a 20th anniversary celebration of Bishop Jakes' book Woman Thou Art Loosed!
On Friday, the conference also served as a platform for Jakes' daughter to address thousands of women. After hearing her speak, many took to the T.D. Jakes Ministries Facebook page to speak about being inspired by the 24-year-old.
"Sarah is experiencing some extremely significant moments in God that will catapult her into His greatest purpose & destiny for her life in Jesus name," one person wrote. "To God be the Glory!!!"
Another person took notice of the young woman's growth in God after witnessing her speak at the conference.
"She has truly grown into one of GOD's greatest LEADING LADIES," the person commented. "THANK YOU First Lady Serita for a job well done and TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!"
Still, another person took note of how difficult it must be to face life as a pastor's child in the public eye.
"PK's really have a hard time. Can't imagine the pressure. God is going to carry her through," the person wrote. "She has a testimony to help other young ladies with the difficulties of peer pressure, abstinence, and rebounding from past tribulations. God allows the journey to be taken on a difficult path, so we may learn how to have Faith and be victorious. Let's pray and encourage our young ladies. It's difficult out there."
The young Jakes, who also leads the Women's ministry at The Potter's House in Dallas, let the world know that despite her position, she was not perfect in a personal blog post on www.sarahdhenson.com. Still, she said she was anticipating her moment to speak at the conference.
""This time last year I was preparing an introduction for my father at Woman Thou Art Loosed that would change the very essence of who I am. A year later and I have experienced many highs and lows, but I haven't faced anything as devastating as who I was before I gave in to that small still voice," Jakes wrote on her personal website earlier this month. "I, nor anyone who knows me, would have ever imagined that I would stand before a crowd and speak from the heart about who I am, what I've done, and how God used me anyway. When I spoke last year at the conference I spoke about what I did and what happened TO me, this year I will stand a living testimony about what I discovered was IN me."
