Sasha and Malia Obama Celebrate Election, Return to White House

The two daughters of Barack Obama have celebrated their father's reelection as the 44th President of the United States and have already returned to the White House this week.

Malia, 14, and her younger sister Sasha, 11, were poised yet jubilant alongside their parents as the presidential election results arrived Tuesday night. The young girls donned fashionable skirts as they hugged President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

"I'm so proud of you guys," Obama said during his acceptance speech early Wednesday after his reelection, according to The Washington Post. "Sasha and Malia, before our very eyes, you're growing up to become two strong, smart, beautiful young women."

The First Family returned to the White House on Wednesday.

With Obama's reelection, the First Daughters will continue to grow up in the public eye. While Sasha and Malia's parents emphasize having a family dinner every night, the Obamas face challenges raising their children in the White House.

Both the President and the First Lady have been very outspoken about parenthood in the White House in the past.

"I think they are … the first kids in the White House growing up where everybody's got a cell phone and everybody's watching," the First Lady explained to iVillage last month. "You may be having a moment, but somebody could use that moment and try to define you forever."

Furthermore, ahead of his reelection, President Obama, 51, assured radio talk show host Ryan Seacrest that he and his wife are doing everything they can to give their children a normal upbringing.

"Michelle is very good about making sure that we're creating a space for them where they can have sleepovers," said the President speaking to Seacrest, via Us Magazine. "They can go to the mall. They can go to the movies. They're going to homecomings at their school."

Despite Sasha and Malia being raised under public scrutiny and encountering superstars such as Beyonce, the First Lady stressed that her daughters have ordinary responsibilities.

"We have discussions about responsibility, not taking this for granted," Michelle Obama explained to Oprah Winfrey last year. "And not having a bunch of grown-ups doing stuff for you when you're completely capable of doing it yourself, and being able to take care of your own business."

The First Lady added, "And you're (her daughters) not living in the White House forever- you're going to college … We have those discussions."
