Savannah Guthrie Wedding: 'Now We Actually Need to Plan It,' Host Jokes
NBC "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie is busy with wedding details and planning, but the host said that she is finally "zeroing in" on a wedding date, though no date has been announced just yet.
"Everyone including our mothers are wondering when the heck we are going to get married. They are just so happy and excited for us," Guthrie told People magazine. "We had such a great summer. We had a couple of engagement parties. Matt [Lauer] threw us one in New York and Chuck Todd threw us one in Washington. We were just enjoying the moment and the thrill of being engaged. Now we need to actually plan, so we are working on it."
Of course, there was a bit of a hiccup when Guthrie told Jay Leno that she accidentally lost her engagement ring from fiancé Mike Feldman. The ring was a bit too big and slid off one day, causing Guthrie to have a bit of a panic attack, even though everything turned out fine in the end.
"The panic is rising up," she told Leno. "I call work like, can you please look in my office; maybe I left it there. It fell out of a paper towel in the trash."
The couple, who began dating after her marriage to Mark Orchard was dissolved in 2009, are currently busy planning their nuptials together.
"Both of us want to be involved, but at the same time we're overwhelmed by the prospect of having to plan a whole wedding, so we're in it together," she told People. "He will probably want to be in charge of the music, and I could be in charge of flowers and doilies or whatever the girls are supposed to be in charge of… we just want it to feel meaningful and personal."
