Scandal Season 4 Release Date, Plot Spoilers: Cast Change for President Fitz's Daughter, Promo Shows Where Olivia Is

The of role "Scandal" President Fitzgerald Grant's First Daughter has been recast. The role of Karen Grant will now be played by Mary Mouser. She will be replacing Madeline Carroll on the show.

Carroll made her first appearance on the show during the last season, when she and her now deceased brother Jerry Jr. came home on a vacation from boarding school. The actress is reportedly unable to continue working on the show due to scheduling conflicts. Mouser will make her first appearance on the show in an episode on October, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, a new promo for the show teases the whereabouts of Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington). In the final episode of season three, Olivia is seen on a plane with Jake as they head off to an unknown destination.

In the promo, a phone is heard ringing while shots of Olivia's apartment, office, and the Oval Office are shown. It seems like the President is trying to reach her, and she's not picking up.

The promo ends with Olivia relaxing on a beach, sporting a curly hairstyle, and reaching for a glass of wine. Seems like she's having the time of her life and she's has a relaxing time for a change. But will the lure of the White House pull her back into the life that she just escaped?

"Nearly two months after Olivia and Jake boarded a private jet to stand in the sun together, everything has changed," according to ABC's official synopsis for Season 4, episode 1.

"With another four years in the White House, Fitz and Cyrus are doing everything they can to make a positive impact on the nation. Meanwhile, Mellie struggles to cope with the loss of her son and the gladiators feel the impact of Olivia's absence," it continued.

Season 4 of "Scandal" will premiere on Sept. 25 on ABC.
