'Scandal' Season 5 Episode 5 Spoilers: Fitz Faces Impeachment, Jake's Past Hunts Him

The political thriller television series "Scandal" is returning with its fifth episode of season five and as expected, it's full of drama, media and scandal. According to Penn Live, the upcoming episode of the show will pick up after the events of the last episode which ended with President Fitzgerald (Tony Goldwyn) and Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) going out on a date as if they are an ordinary couple.

But they should have known already that they're not a normal pair and the effects of a long-awaited romance between the two have led to a disaster at the White House. As seen in the preview clip of episode 5 titled "You Got Served," the President is getting flustered because of the possibility of a potential impeachment. He talks with David Rosen, Elizabeth North and Abby in the Oval Office wherein he insisted that he has done nothing wrong and has not committed any "impeachable offenses."

But Rosen lectures the Commander in Chief saying, "This isn't a normal trial, Mr. President. It's a political trial. Congress is prosecutor and judge and jury. They decide what an impeachable offense is and they decide if you've committed one."

It's going to be a tough fight for Fitz because even his wife, Mellie (Bellamy Young), is going behind his back and working with other female senators so that her husband will be evicted from the White House. As for Olivia, she knows that such issue is now out of her hands and she cannot deal with it all by herself. Thus, she seeks help from an unexpected source, as reported by Latin Post.

Meanwhile, Jake is facing his own drama as he will need to deal with something from his past—his ex-wife. Design & Trend detailed that fans were surprised to know that Jake was once married to a woman named Elise. Her existence was revealed when he went to her apartment and that's when he said that he thought she was already dead.

Now that another woman is going to be in Jake's life, does it mean that he and Olivia are officially over? Fans will just have to find out. "Scandal" season five airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
