'Scandal' Season 5 has Olivia and Fitz facing off a deadly line up of enemies – Jake, Millie and B613.
The fifth season of "Scandal" returns on ABC with more than the usual quota of politics, sex and high intrigue on September 24. The trailer already showed Olivia and Fitz leaving caution to the winds and jumping headlong into an impulsive, physical relationship. Will this forbidden and passionate affair take a more wilder route or will it fizzle out?
Viewers will have to trust Shonda Rhimes to twist the storyline around into something more infinitely complex and have a finale that will make the wait for Season 6 unbearable.
Season 4 had Olivia going for forbidden love, President Fitzgerald Grant aka Fitz. This could mean revenge by two potential candidates – Millie, Fitz's wife and Jake, Olivia's admirer. Towards the end, the President has a confrontation with his wife, Millie, after he comes to know that she is involved with B613, the evil, secret service organization run by Eli Pope, Olivia's father. Fitz and Millie's relationship comes to a point where they cannot go back to being a couple again. The Season 5 trailer's highpoint is when Fitz hands Millie the divorce papers, saying, "I'm divorcing you!"
But in politics, anything can happen. Fitz might be forced to carry on with Millie for the sake of Fitz's presidency. He might be advised to not go in for the divorce. This will make Olivia's and Fitz's affair even more clandestine.
Shonda Rhimes, showrunner of "Scandal" says, "Olivia finds that every single thing about her life has changed in unexpected ways."
Olivia's and Fitz's happiness may only last for a short while as Jake will hunger for revenge and Millie, feeling slighted and scorned, might try to get to Olivia with help from B613. It was also revealed in the finale of Season 4 that Huck takes a secret mission for B613 to kill somebody. Is it Olivia to be bumped off or Fitz?
There seems to be a solid line up of enemies for Olivia and Fitz to face off. Viewers are waiting for Season 5 to start off as soon as possible.
