'Scandal' season 5 premiere news: Several plot twists

Season 5 of "Scandal" began with a steamy scene, and a twist to ignite the episodes to come.

It was reported that the first episode will see Olivia, played by Kerry Washington, and Fitz, played by Tony Goldwyn, in an intimate situation before a dinner with the Nation of Caldonia.

With that, it can be assumed that Mellie, played by Bellamy Young, will be out of the dinner. It was reported that the upcoming dinner is an important affair, given the fact that an American will be marrying the Prince of Caldonia. Meanwhile, Fitz will be trying to convince the Queen of Caldonia to let the US start a naval base in their country.

However, the Queen asked Fitz to give her more time to think about the naval base. As for Abby, played by Darby Stanchfield, it was reported that she will be investigating what happened between Fitz and Mellie. While she is informed that the couple has broken up, she is still in the dark regarding Fitz and Olivia's affair. However, the episode had Princess Emily in a fatal car accident, which had Olivia dealing with the repercussions of the situation.

The Queen of Caldonia had Olivia retrieve the photos of the body from the press. Even with a difficult task, she was able to pay off the photographers with the help of Katie Lowe's character Quinn. Unfortunately, there was one newspaper that did not want to accept the payout. Olivia was able to work out a compromise that had Prince Richard photographed IDing the body of his wife. As if that was not enough, the episode presented another issue. It was revealed that a presumed paparazzi member turned out to be a hacker all along. Olivia found out that he was able to hack the system of the car to cause the crash.

"Scandal" season 5 is expected to air every Thursday.
