'Scandal' Season 5 Spoilers: Beene Returns; Olivia In Denial

The recent return of Cyrus Beene has been causing buzz for fans of the series "Scandal."

The character Cyrus Beene, played by Jeff Perry, had left the White House due to a falling out with the President and Olivia Pope. However, the previous episode of the season revealed that he is back in the White House with the role of Chief of Staff once again.

His return has caused some mixed feelings among viewers of the show. Some believe that Beene is back to rekindle his relationship with the President, as well as with Olivia. However, others believe that he has something else up his sleeve.

There are many reports stating that Beene is back to kick Elizabeth North, played by Portia de Rossi, out of the White House. Beene was previously seen telling the President to get rid of Elizabeth and that he will not return to the White House until that happens. However, since the President insisted on keeping her around, fans believe that Beene will be doing what he can to get his way.

The most controversial theory of Beene's return states that he is back to take the position of the President away from Fitz. With that, he is expected to betray both the President and Mellie, played by Bellamy Young, in order to become President of the United States.

However, fans can expect that the series will return with drama not just from Perry's return. The viewers will also see the aftermath of Olivia and Fitz's breakup. The actor who plays Fitz, Tony Goldwyn, recently shared his sentiments about the matter during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

He stated, "I think Olivia is lying to herself. She has that thing where when you run away from a commitment or obligation, there's that initial sense of, "I'm free! I can do what ever I want!" Fitz may have been replaced by a couch (Laughs.) but the couch is an inanimate object — it's a nice couch, and the couch isn't going to make a lot of demands on Olivia. But there's going to be a tremendous backlash — I'm not saying this out of any knowledge of the story, but about life — when Olivia has to look in the mirror and realizes that she's pushed away everybody who is close to her life and the man she does love. "

"Scandal" Season 5 is expected to return on ABC this Feb. 11, 2016.
