Cyrus Insists He's Innocent, But Is He? Scandal Season 6 Heats Up

The new promo video for "Scandal" season 6's fourth episode is out. The episode, titled "The Belt," promises a huge twist just right before Mellie's triumph, and Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and her team make a shocking discovery about Francisco Vargas' (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) death.

Previously on "Scandal," Olivia's team of "gladiators" is in the middle of a huge mess left by the shooting of Frankie Vargas during election night. Right from the start Olivia has been sure that Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) was behind Frankie's death. With Fitz Grant's (Tony Goldwin) presidential recommendation on the line, Olivia and her team scrambled to find enough evidence on what they thought Cyrus did.

"Huck" (Guillermo Díaz) and Quinn Perkins (Katie Lowes) finally uncovered a video footage from the collection that they have copied from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) — a record of Cyrus and Frankie fighting, and it was a very serious fight. It just added more weight to their theory about Cyrus, and in turn, more support for Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) as her chance to become President just became more definite.

On to the new episode, "The Belt," Cyrus is locked behind bars in prison garb while on the other side of the city, Olivia states her goal for the team: "I want there to be no doubt about his guilt."

Cyrus' fall is her rise to power, as the trailer cuts to Mellie addressing a cheering crowd, the U.S. flag behind her. "I am going to be the president of the United States," she says to Olivia in great anticipation.

Olivia reminds someone that Mellie "is not the leader of the free world. Not yet." The show promises a twist that "will make you go OMG." A bandaged, beaten-up Cyrus implores someone through a landline phone. "It wasn't me, Liv. Trust your gut." Olivia listens, visibly perturbed, on the other end.
