'Scandal' Season 7 Episode 4 Spoilers: Fitz Loses Patience with Olivia
Olivia (Kerry Washington) is not happy about Fitz's (Tony Goldwyn) arrival in Washington in the upcoming episode of "Scandal."
In the episode titled "Lost Girls," the promo shows a tense showdown between the former POTUS and the current White House Chief of Staff. Olivia is angrily asking Fitz what he is doing there, to which he irately replies he was there to see her. Last episode, viewers got to see Fitz in his first 100 days after leaving the White House. It took him a while to adjust to being a regular citizen again and living in Vermont. Soon, it became apparent that Fitz was getting tired of the isolation and not seeing his ladylove.
When Marcus (Cornelius Smith Jr.) arrived to see him, Fitz was close to a meltdown. He snapped when the other called him an insane narcissist. They had an ugly fistfight, with Marcus refusing to back down, denying the ex-POTUS another chance to run away from his problems. In an interview with TVLine, Goldwyn said that Marcus was right. His character was essentially a spoiled child who was used to getting what he wanted. When asked about that rant he threw at Olivia, Goldwyn said it was a fun scene to shoot.
"I thought that was awesome. It was both a nod to the crazy Scandal fans — and I thought was really nice to bring them into the story in that way — as well as the idea of celebrity as president. People take this show so seriously; I've been accosted many times by people wanting to talk about my relationship with Olivia. I'm like, 'Folks, it's a television show.' And for Fitz, to have that reduced down to a slogan and to have his whole presidency defined by that is bizarre," Goldwyn said.
"Scandal" season 7 airs Thursdays, at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
