Scientology and Tom Cruise Auditioned Women: Claims Supported by Former Member

Scientology is believed to play a significant role in who Tom Cruise dates, and it's believed to be a major factor in who the Hollywood actor will settle down with next.

The New York Post published a story stating that the organization auditioned several women before settling on Katie Holmes. Those claims have been backed up in another new article, as well as a former member familiar with the situation.

Vanity Fair magazine published the intimate details of the vetting process and Cruise's top-secret relationship with Nazanin Boniadi, which seems to support initial claims made by The New York Post. Now Paul Haggis, a former Scientologist, has come forward to expand on the claims and offer more truth to them.

"I met [Boniadi] through a mutual friend when I was doing my own person research into the allegations against Scientology, before I wrote my letter of resignation. Naz was embarrassed by her unwitting involvement in this incident and never wanted it to come out, so I kept silent," Haggis wrote in a letter to Showbiz 411.

"However, I was deeply disturbed by how the highest ranking members of a church could so easily justify using one of their members; how they so callously punished her and then so effectively silenced her when it was done. It wasn't just the threats; they actually made her feel ashamed, when all she had been was human and trusting," he explained.

"Naz quietly and privately resigned from the church a couple of years ago after several years of trying to handle this injustice internally, to no avail," Haggis added.

A representative for Cruise dismissed the claims, telling ABC News that "lies in a different font are still lies- designed to sell magazines."
