"Scream" Season 2 News: Darker Side of Audrey, Stronger Side of Emma

The horror television series "Scream" on MTV has been renewed for a second season. It also aired the season finale last September 1. According to a report in TV Line, the show's executive producer Jill Blotevogel sat down for an interview and revealed some interesting tidbits about what's in store for the show and its characters in the next season.

Among the things that the show's executive producer revealed was related to one of the show's greatest revelations in the Season 1 finale. As it turned out, the masked killer was revealed to be Piper. However, the other shocking revelation is the relationship between Piper and another character who most people thought was unexpected. As it turned out, Audrey may be Piper's accomplice all along, as she was shown in the finale destroying any evidence of her connection with Piper.

When asked about this surprising development, Blotevogel said that they intentionally chose Audrey because most of the TV audience empathized with her from the start. Giving her a dark side, according to Blotevogel, is expected to draw the audience in again. And this will spill over to the upcoming season, as the executive producer said, "I would call her a wild card of Season 2. The depth of her involvement isn't yet revealed — just a connection to Piper. Like I said, not knowing if she ever donned the mask and actually killed someone is a big part of what's going to keep people truly intrigued."

As for the series' protagonist, Emma, in the season finale, finds out that Piper was her half-sister and why Piper was trying to kill her. This comes as a shock for her and in the upcoming season, her character is going to be "more closed-off, more defensive." She will also be displaying more strength, as she deals with other characters in the series, like her mother.

In the interview, Blotevogel also revealed that Piper may still be appearing in Season 2 through flashbacks. Mr. Branson may also return, but he will no longer be teaching in Lakewood.

The premiere date of the next season has yet to be announced.
