Script for 'Twins' Sequel Almost Done, Says Arnold Schwarzenegger

The sequel to the first "Twins" movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger is in the works. In fact, the production for the follow-up to the hit comedy that took theaters by storm in the 1980s is now taking off, as recent reports suggest that its script is already near completion.

Officially titled "Triplets," the "Twins" sequel is well underway, as reported by Schwarzenegger himself. It has been a while since the 70-year-old actor last talked about "Twins," but in a recent press conference for his upcoming film "Killing Gunther," he was asked about the sequel, and he was generous enough to answer.

Speaking about the status of "Triplets," Schwarzenegger revealed that the writers are close to done with the script and that director Ivan Reitman is really happy with the progress they have made. "I had a conversation yesterday with my agent and he said that the script will be finished in 14 days. Ivan Reitman is extremely happy with what he's seen so far, he just wants to make a few tweaks, so that's music to my ears. I think sometime beginning of next year we can shoot the film," said the actor.

As the tentative title suggests, the upcoming sequel will center on Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito's characters' discovery that they actually have another brother. According to reports, their long-lost brother will be played by "The Nutty Professor" actor Eddie Murphy.

Since the sequel has been placed on the back burner for decades now, it is good to know that it is finally taking off. That said, there are speculations that although production for "Triplets" will kick off soon, it might take longer than expected since Schwarzenegger is scheduled to star in "Terminator 6," which will also start filming early next year. If everything will go as planned, "Triplets" may hit theaters in 2019.
