'Sea Of Thieves' Technical Alpha Update 0.1.1 features, latest news: Video teases new islands, skeletal pirates and more

Game developer Rare has recently released a video going over the new features of Update 0.1.1 in the Technical Alpha test of the upcoming swashbuckling open-world video game, "Sea of Thieves."

As reported by Gamespot, the world of "Sea of Thieves" has grown larger and is even more dangerous with the latest update in its Technical Alpha version. There are now more islands for exploration and new challenges for gamers to accomplish, including stealing gold from other players.

Update 0.1.1 also adds fall damage, which means gamers can no longer jump from high places without negative consequences. The latest update also adds skeletal pirates that gamers need to face and defeat.

With the expanded world and the addition of more islands, there are also more outposts available in the game. This means players have more opportunities of getting chests back to the Shipwright.

"This should make it easier to avoid the 'ganking' that some of you feared during our first update, which is how the cool kids refer to treasure-related blunderbuss incidents," the video explained.

Gamers who are interested to try out the next alpha phase of "Sea of Thieves" must sign up for the video game's Insider Programme. By signing up, interested gamers get a chance to have an inside look at the development of the shared-world pirate adventure video game.

Those admitted into the program will also help in shaping the game by providing feedback through surveys, and will be considered for exclusive access to early versions of the game. However, the program only considers those who have an Xbox Live Account and are at least 18 years old. There is also no guarantee that a gamer will have access to the Technical Alpha test just by signing up.

"Sea of Thieves" is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, which means those who buy the game on Xbox One will also get the PC version without added cost and vice versa.

Developed by Rare, "Sea of Thieves" is expected to come out sometime in 2017 on the Xbox One and Windows PC.
