Sean Kingston Awake Following Jet Ski Crash
Singer Sean Kingston has regained consciousness following the horrific jet ski crash in Miami on Sunday.
The news will come as a great relief to his family and the list of celebrity well-wishers, which included Justin Bieber, Rihanna and LL Cool J among others, that sent their prayers and messages of support to Kingston in the wake of the crash.
Kingston still needs a machine to help him with his breathing, but he has reportedly opened his eyes and has communicated with nods and gestures to friends and family.
Reports have suggested that Kingston is making progress every day, but it will be at least two weeks till he may be well enough to go home.
Jamaica-raised Kingston rose to fame when hit single “Beautiful Girls” topped the charts in 2007 and his debut album sold over a million copies worldwide.
Unusually for a hip hop artist, he does not use swearing in his songs, saying “that’s not the message I am trying to send out”.
Kingston and a female passenger, Cassandra Sanchez, were seriously injured when their jet ski hit the Palm Island Bridge at about 6pm on Sunday.
Sanchez has reported that she had pleaded with Kingston to slow down in the moments before the crash. He, however, did not heed the warning, and following the smash, Sanchez says her next recollection was waking up in the water in pain.
Kingston was said to be “puking up blood” and convulsing as he was pulled out of the water. Other reports have indicated that he had a severe gash on his neck, and was conscious in the immediate aftermath of the crash.
Earlier this week, The Christian Post reported how Justin Bieber made a heartfelt appeal to his fans asking them to pray for his friend and fellow singer. Bieber, 17, said on his Twitter page: “Got my friend @seankingston in my prayers tonight. a true friend and big bro. please keep him in your prayers tonight as well.”
Pop star Rihanna also tweeted: “Sean we praying for u baby.”
