The Hollywood stars sat side-by-side on Jan. 11 at Penn's 3rd Annual Help Haiti Home Gala at the Montage hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. It was at this same event that Morgan claims Theron, 38 and the "21 Grams" actor, 53, alluded to having an exclusive relationship.
The British CNN host recounted his encounter with the pair in a blog post. He reportedly approached them and said, "I'm so glad you two have got together. Sean's a great guy."
Theron, who recently vacationed with Penn, replied with "I know."
Morgan claims that he also later congratulated Penn on the success of the charity event, which attracted the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin among other A-listers.
"And congrats on Charlize, too," he told Penn.
"She's a keeper, that's for sure… Well, I'll do my best to keep her anyway!" Penn replied.
At one point the Hollywood actor was seen embracing the "Prometheus" actress, which fueled romance reports.
"They looked like two teenagers in love," an alleged onlooker told the New York Daily News' Confidential. "They were hugging each other the entire evening. When a film about Haiti was played, Sean was resting his head on Charlize's shoulder and was holding her hand and kissing it. It was all very cute."
Penn, who was once married to actress Robin Wright, reportedly gushed about the single Mom during a speech.
"I'm a self-proclaimed Alpha male who owns 67 firearms. But I've had my mind changed about guns by a strong woman, a beautiful South African woman," he told the Crowd about Theron.
The event reportedly raised close to $6 million. The organization was founded in 2010 to provide food, water and medical assistance and to develop housing following the deadly earthquake.
The report comes three weeks after the Hollywood stars vacationed together in Hawaii in the days leading up to New Year's Eve.
"I've never seen Sean so happy. He had a permanent smile on his face," a source revealed.
"It looks serious and comfortable," another insider told Us magazine.
