Seattle Seahawks Left Tackle Rees Odhiambo Expected to Play Against the Rams

Left tackle Rees Odhiambo gave the Seattle Seahawks organization quite a scare last Sunday when he began to experience trouble breathing following their 46–18 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Paramedics tended to him and he was rushed to the hospital where he stayed overnight. It was initially feared that he might have a bruised heart, but Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll would later confirm that he was dealing with a bruised sternum.

Odhiambo was already back on the practice field a few days after he was discharged from the hospital and it seemed that he might even play against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday.

"He had a good Wednesday and a good Friday. We gave him a break on Thursday just to make sure we didn't overdo it. And he looks like he's ready to go," Carroll said, via ESPN.

"He was upgraded on Wednesday because he felt that good and he went ahead and practiced and all that. We weren't sure of that. So from that point is when we started getting all the positive signals that he's OK and all that. So he recovered well," he added.

The Seahawks could use all the help they could get when they face All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald and the National Football Conference (NFC) West-leading Los Angeles Rams this Sunday.

Odhiambo got the start at left tackle after George Fant tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee in August, and the second-year pro has played really well in the first four games of the season.

If Odhiambo is unavailable, Matt Tobin will likely get the start. The Seahawks acquired the fifth-year offensive tackle in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles back in August.

Meanwhile, defensive end Cliff Avril has already been ruled out for this Sunday and Carroll has noted that his neck and spine injuries could be long-term problems.
