Seattle Seahawks Rumors: Asking Price for Richard Sherman Is Dropping

The asking price for Richard Sherman is always going to be steep. After all, he's one of the best cornerbacks in the league.

However, ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio has pointed out that his price tag might be dropping in the past few weeks and he's got a point.

Last week, the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero said the Seattle Seahawks were asking for a "very good player" and a high pick for Sherman. But earlier this week, NFL.com's Mike Garafolo said the team is now asking for a first-round pick and a mid-round pick in exchange for the All-Pro cornerback.

"We're talking Darrelle Revis Jets-to-Buccaneers type of deal. That's what's going to get this thing done," Garafolo stated on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" on Tuesday.

It should be noted that the New York Jets received the 13th overall pick in the 2013 draft and a conditional fourth-round pick when they sent Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013. A similar deal for Sherman doesn't sound that bad and there are probably teams who are willing to give them that to acquire the cornerback.

But will the asking price for Sherman continue to drop?

"That question is driven by how motivated the Seahawks are to sell. Given the unusual transparency that the Seahawks have applied to this one, the truth could be that the price will keep dropping until someone bites — as long as that someone is someone for whom Sherman wants to play," Florio said in his report.

"Which means the question of what Seattle wants ultimately may be driven by how badly Sherman wants out," he continued.

Well, Sherman was reportedly the one who initiated the trade talks, so he's definitely open to leaving. The Seahawks are also willing to accommodate his request, but many observers believe that Sherman isn't going anywhere. Unless he forces the issue, of course.
