Seattle Seahawks Place Linebacker Dewey McDonald on IR; Season Likely Over With ACL Injury
Looks like the Seattle Seahawks will have to make do without linebacker Dewey McDonald for the remainder of the season.
The Seahawks has announced that they are placing McDonald on the injured reserve list after he suffered a knee injury on the opening kickoff of their week three matchup against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday. His season is likely over.
The team didn't explicitly say that McDonald has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in their announcement, but during a press conference on Monday, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll confirmed that he's dealing with a serious ACL injury.

"I don't have the last word of it, but he does have an ACL injury. To the extent of it, I don't know, but it is serious," Carroll said, via the Seahawks' official website.
The fourth-year pro was scheduled to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan to determine the extent of the injury last Monday, but the team has yet to reveal the results to the public.
McDonald will join fellow special teams mainstays Neiko Thorpe and D.J. Alexander on the sidelines. Thorpe is currently dealing with a sore ankle, while D.J. Alexander is still recovering from a hamstring injury. Both were inactive last Sunday.
"It's a big factor. Yeah, our top guy D.J. (Alexander) and Neiko (Thorpe) weren't there and Dewey (McDonald). Those are our three top guys who went bang, bang, bang. It hurts your depth. It factors in across the board. Those are three terrific football players for us, so we miss them, for sure," Carroll said after the game, via KING 5.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks claimed Justin March-Lillard off waivers from the Miami Dolphins and he will take over McDonald's spot on the active roster. The third-year pro was signed by the Dolphins earlier this month and he played in two games for them before he was released this week.
