Seattle Seahawks Roster, Injury News 2017: Defensive End Dion Jordan May Return Next Week
Seattle Seahawks defensive end Dion Jordan might finally make his return to the field next week.
The fifth-year pro was activated off the reserve/nonfootball injury (NFI) list last week and he has begun practicing with the team for the first time this year. Jordan still has to get back into game shape, but Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has recently said that he might be available when they take on the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, Nov. 9.
"He got to practice on Friday for the first time. This will be his first full week of practice. We will get a good evaluation. He really took it very well. He handled the work that we did and he looked good. We are excited about that. I don't know what that means for this week as opposed to next week and all that. Short week coming up after. That would probably be possible. We are getting closer. He's got to make progress each day this week too, but it's a good sign," Carroll said on Monday, via ProFootballTalk.
Jordan signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks in April, but a pair of knee surgeries has kept him off the field until now. The former third-overall pick has not played a single game in the National Football League (NFL) since the 2014 season when he was still a member of the Miami Dolphins.
He was suspended for the entire 2015 season for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, and he also missed the entire 2016 campaign due to knee injuries. Jordan was released by the Dolphins earlier this year after he failed his physical.
It will likely take some time for Jordan to get up to speed once he makes his return, but he will help the Seahawks solve their depth issues at the defensive line.
