Seattle Seahawks Running Back C. J. Prosise Expected to Miss Sunday's Game Against the Colts

It appears that C.J. Prosise is likely going to miss his first game of the season this Sunday.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Prosise is not expected to suit up for the Seahawks when they take on the Indianapolis Colts. The oft-injured running back's status is week-to-week after he sustained an ankle injury during their 33–27 loss to the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.

"He's got an ankle that we are concerned about. We will see how it goes. Give him a couple days before we have to declare what is going on with him, but he has a significant ankle," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said on Wednesday, via the Oregonian.

Carroll still hasn't officially ruled him out of the game, though, and they will continue to evaluate him this week.

Prosise has done a good job playing behind rookie Chris Carson this season. In three games, the second-year pro rushed for 20 yards on six carries. He also has six receptions for 87 yards.

The former third-round pick out of the University of Notre Dame is a talented player. There's no doubt about that. Unfortunately, he is just too injury-prone to rely on. Prosise was limited to only six games during his rookie season due to a number of injuries including a broken scapula, a sprained wrist, and a broken hand.

If Prosise is unavailable, Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy should finally get the chance to play significant minutes at running back. The two have combined for only 24 snaps this season.

"I think they're going to be damn important going forward. Really, we have not got it where we want it and on track where there's a consistency of the right mix and balance and the flow of the game and all those things," Seahawks offensive line coach Tom Cable said of Rawls and Lacy on Wednesday, via ESPN.
