The Seattle Seahawks will host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in Week 2 of the NFL 2017 regular season. The game is set to take place at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, and has a scheduled start time of 4.25 p.m. ET. Both teams suffered Week 1 losses, and that makes today's game all the more important for both. Neither will want to start the season 0-2 as that would immediately put a big dent in their hopes for the season.
The Seahawks were on the road in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers, and Seattle has historically had a difficult time at Lambeau Field. That is certainly how it proved to be again last week, and although it was a tight game, the Packers were able to let loose in the third quarter to establish an eight point lead that they would not relinquish in the 17-9 game.

The 49ers meanwhile opened the season with a home game against the Carolina Panthers. This one was nowhere near as close, and Carolina eased to victory, extending their lead through each of the opening three quarters until they mercifully took their foot off the gas in a scoreless final quarter.
That 23-3 loss for the 49ers will have knocked their rosters' confidence, and probably the last place you want to go when you are low on confident is CenturyLink Field. However, that is where they will find themselves this week, and unless there are some major improvements for San Francisco, this one looks set up to be a long afternoon for them.
Earlier this week, the Houston Texans went on the road to Ohio to play the Cincinnati Bengals on NFL Thursday Night Football. The Texans prevailed 13-9 in a low-scoring and close encounter.
Both teams had lost in Week 1 and so both were intent on avoiding falling to 0-2, however, it is the Bengals that find themselves the first team of the new season to drop to 0-2. The Texans meanwhile move to 1-1 and will look to push on from here.
In Week 1 the Bengals were trashed 20-0 by the Baltimore Ravens, and Andy Dalton was only able to average 5.5 yards per pass through the game, accumulating an horrendous 28.4 passer rating.
The Texans meanwhile suffered an embarrassing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, in what was a disastrous opening showing for the team. They gave up 10 sacks as well as 29 points, and were forced to bench Tom Savage for rookie Deshaun Watson midway through the game.
Watson struggled through his first ever start in the NFL, however, he did produce the only moment that really mattered in the game as he ran for a 49 yard touchdown after breaking free from the Bengals defense.
That proved to be the difference between the teams and was enough to get the Texans season kick-started with their first victory.
But on the evidence of Thursday's match up, both the Bengals and Texans look like they can have reasonable defenses, however, both will have to do something drastic about their offenses, as both looked far from NFL-level performances. If things do not improve quickly for both teams in that area then it could end up being a long season.
