The Southern Gospel Music Guild (SGMG) will be holding its 2nd Annual Harmony Honors awards ceremony at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21 at the Renaissance Center in Dickson, Tenn.
This years top nominees include Brian Free and his group Assurance with four nominations, including artist of the year; and the Crabb Family, Gold City, Crossway, the Perrys, the Talley Trio, Kingdom Heirs, and Greater Vision all with three.
Nominees for the event are selected based on numerous statistics related to the individual or group including radio charts and product sales, according to SoundScan. Winners are then determined by SGMG members through two rounds of balloting, with the ballots being independently tabulated by the Rayburn, Bates and Fitzgerald accounting firm.
SGMG President Clark Beasley says that Harmony Awards are one way that the organization seeks to accomplish its goal of increasing exposure for Southern Gospel music.
The Southern Gospel Music Guild is an organization comprised of Southern Gospel Music industry professionals who have come together, combined their collective resources and devoted their time to the expansion of the economic base of the entire Southern Gospel Music industry, said Beasley. The Guild believes that one way we can accomplish this goal is to recognize and reward excellence.
Admission to the 2005 Harmony Honors is free and open to the public with doors opening at 7:00 p.m.
The event will be taped for television broadcast and will be shown on the Daystar Television Network. Showtime details are forthcoming.
