'Seinfeld' Star Attempts Suicide, Hospitalized With Gun Wound

Daniel Von Bargen, the actor who played Mr. Kruger in "Seinfeld" made a 911 call Monday, reporting that he had shot himself in the head in a failed suicide attempt.

Von Bargen is currently in an Ohio hospital after he reported a self-inflicted injury to an emergency operator. The taping of the 911 call was recovered by TMZ. "I've shot myself in the head ... and I need help," Von Bargen said in the phone call.

The operator then asked if the injury was an accident. "No," Von Bargen admitted. "I was supposed to go to the hospital today and I didn't want to, so I shot myself," he said.

Von Bargen has appeared in "Malcolm in the Middle," "RoboCop 3," "Basic Instinct," "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "Super Troopers" amongst others. He has also appeared in theater, and performed on Broadway in one of his plays.

When asked where the injury is, Von Bargen replied "I shot in my temple." The actor continued to explain himself. "They were supposed to amputate at least a few toes," Von Bargen later explained. He tells the phone operator that he is a diabetic, and "not a good one."

During the phone call the operator also made an attempt to ask Von Bargen why he has tried to hurt himself and whether it was just because of the scheduled amputation. It is unclear what Von Bargen responds, although he mentioned something about being tired.

After some time the police department can be heard. They tell Von Bargen not to move and to keep his hands to his sides. "You don't have any other guns around here? Just that one?" an officer asked.

Law officials have also confirmed that they were dispatched to the apartment of Von Bargen. The actor is currently still in the hospital in critical condition.
