Selena Gomez Fragrance Ad Reveals Star in Fish Tank: Too Sexy? (PIC)
Selena Gomez has been criticized for posing for an overly sexualized ad for her new fragrance.
It seems to happen all the time that younger, former Disney stars, anxious to get away from their childhood personas, go to extremes to depict themselves as mature, and often overly sexualized adults.
It is no wonder then, why so many heads were turned when Selena Gomez posed in a seemingly over sized fish tank, in order for photographers to capture a shot of the former "Wizards of Waverly Place" star sopping wet. What would have turned into a funny scene on the hit Disney show (think Gomez's Disney character failing to study for her magic lesson and getting stuck in the middle of a bad magic trick) instead turned into a "sexy" ad meant to promote the star's new fragrance.
Of course Gomez and her reps may state that they are not targeting the tween crowd with the new ad, but the more appropriate question may be who is going to look at the ad and buy the fragrance?
"I describe it as yummy. It's romantic. It's not over-bearing. Simple!" Gomez said during an interview according to the Inquisitr. The star even sought her mother's approval.
"My mom legitimately likes it," Gomez said. "She's so honest with me, she'll tell me that she doesn't like my clothes or the dress I wore, but she wears this everyday."
Those words coming out of the 19-year-old's mouth don't really sound as sexy as her ad was made to look.
What do you think? Does the industry push teen stars to grow up quicker than they are mentally prepared for?
