Selena Gomez Grows Up With New Single 'Hit The Lights' Premiere (VIDEO)
Selena Gomez & The Scene premiered their latest music video for the new single, “Hit the Lights.”
The young singer and her band released the pop-electric song from the album, “When the Song Goes Down,” which was released this summer. Since then, Gomez’s popularity as not just a Disney star, but a mature artist, has developed.
While Gomez wants to be seen as “grown up,” she describes her music as “fun.”
"I wanted to create a whole different kind of fun sound when it came to the lyrics. The lyrics are a lot more cheeky on this album...and the music's really fun," Gomez said to Billboard.com upon the release of her album in June.
"It's a really empowering record and that's just more of the place I was in, so I wanted it to be really powerful and to be something that was inspiring," says Gomez.
With her latest single, her fans are definitely inspired to dance, at least.
“The song 'Hit The Lights' is about missed opportunities,” Gomez explained in a recent interview. “…The dream that you wish you would go for and basically, this song is encouraging people to let loose, have fun, and be young and crazy."
The music video features Gomez running through a cornfield, dancing with firecrackers, and swimming in a pool of balloons.
"This video is more organic than anything I've done before. It's about being with people you love and enjoying the moment, and embracing the moment you're in your life,” the “Monte Carlo” actress said.
Fans have hit Twitter to share their thoughts on this aging Selena Gomez.
“Selena gomez Made me so proud today Hit the Lights is Amazing. She's growing up into a beautiful young woman and Im proud to be a fan,” one fan declared.
