Selena Gomez Hacker Jailed 1 Year for Justin Bieber Diss (VIDEO)
A British man was sentenced to one year in jail after hacking into Selena Gomez's Facebook and Twitter, and then posting a derogatory remark about Justin Bieber.
Gareth Crosskey, 21, was sentenced to one year in prison under Britain's Computer Misuse Act after hacking into Selena Gomez's Facebook and Twitter account. Reports stated the Crosskey had posted "Justin Bieber sucks" on her Facebook wall, which upset a number of outraged fans.
In addition, Crosskey supposedly upset communication between the two stars and threatened to expose private emails from Bieber to Gomez. A worker at McDonalds, Crosskey was tracked by the FBI and local authorities after he sent threatening emails to Gomez's stepfather.
"Her personal email shows what her fans might want to see. I've made a copy of every email between Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez and Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. I think the paparazzi will have a field day," Crosskey wrote to Brian Teefy.
Crosskey went as far as to boast about his skills on YouTube according to MTV, who reported that the hacker offered an instructional video online. Crosskey pleaded guilty last week in court.
"You are clever with a computer and you hacked into the private part of somebody's Facebook account," Southwark Crown Court Judge John Price said. "People deserve privacy and should not have their private correspondence by email made public."
Crosskey's lawyer relayed that his client felt sorry about his actions and has decided to enroll in a college course for designing computer games.
"He accepts his actions have caused distress and alarm and he accepts that his actions were stupid," Gareth Morgan told The Sun.
The star couple had been together for nearly two years after starting off as close friends. It has not yet been revealed however, how Demi Lovato was involved in the email exchange.
