Selena Gomez Recalls Unpleasant Experiences as a Young Star

It has been several years since Selena Gomez's relationship with Justin Bieber ended, but it still continues to play a huge role in the popular female pop singer's life as an adult. Gomez recently revealed that whenever she looks back and reflects on those days, she realizes how her relationship with the Canadian singer has affected her Disney career and her life altogether.

In an interview with Business of Fashion held a few days ago, Gomez talked about her life as a Disney star and revealed that it was not as good as people thought it to be. She admitted not feeling good or thrilled whenever she looked back on her Disney career, primarily because she did not enjoy her privacy.

"I remember just feeling really violated when I was younger, even just being on the beach. I was maybe 15 or 16 and people were taking pictures—photographers. I don't think anyone really knew who I was. But I felt very violated and I didn't like it or understand it, and that felt very weird, because I was a young girl and they were grown men. I didn't like that feeling," said Gomez.

The 25-year old actress and singer, who rose to fame after starring on "Wizards of Waverly Place" from 2007 to 2012, also recalled how she "started getting known for things that weren't [related to] my work." According to her, that was when she felt her passion drifting away, and it worried her.

Gomez also admitted reaching a point where she wanted to break free from the show. She said "Wizards of Waverly Place" was on its fourth season at the time, and she was 18 years old. She confessed to being in a relationship with Bieber around that time. Four years later, they called it quits.

Despite Gomez' unpleasant experiences as a young star, she said she was now content with her present life.
