Selena Gomez Says Sister 'Scarlett Her Guardian Angel'
Selena Gomez has revealed the name of her guardian angel, telling her Facebook and Twitter fans that it is the baby sister, whom her mom tragically miscarried.
The singer and actress expressed gratitude for the fans that were supportive during her mother’s recent miscarriage.
“Belated Merry Christmas everybody..I can’t thank you enough for all of your thoughts and prayers,” Gomez wrote the day after Christmas. “We appreciate every one of you.. I love you all so much and we hope you and your family had a beautiful Christmas!”
In the signature of the note, Gomez wrote, “Love, Me, Momma, Brian and our guardian angel Scarlett.”
Although Gomez has recently been promoting appearances on her Twitter account, she was forced to cancel some scheduled performances last week due to her mother, Many Teefey, losing her child.
Gomez’ boyfriend and pop sensation Justin Bieber, reportedly visited Gomez and her mother in a Los Angeles hospital after realizing that they had lost the baby.
The American Pregnancy Association reports that between 10 and 25 percent of pregnancies result in miscarriages within the first twenty weeks of pregnancy. Brad Imler, president of the APA, told The Christian Post that families commonly have issues in dealing with the loss.
“It is a loss, similar to losing any child,” Imler said. ”It is a devastating loss. One of the main challenges to women who lose their child prior to birth is how other people look at the situation; most people do not know how to respond.”
Although Gomez seems to have found solace in a guardian angel, her fans still made sure to show their support.
“Stay strong Selena and remember your fans are always by your side,” one fan wrote. “I will pray very strongly for u just take care of yourself and your family belated Christmas wishes love u always.”
Another wanted Gomez to feel loved and expressed that via Facebook.
“God bless you&ur family !!! Selenators gonna be here for you ALWAYS selly,” the Facebook user wrote. “I just wanna hug you and make you feel our love.“
Although the turn of events forced Gomez to cancel her performances at the B96 Jingle Bash in Chicago and the 106.1 FM’s Jingle Bell Bash in Washington, she is still scheduled for a big year ending performance. The singer is expected to perform on New Year’s Eve in Times Square to close off this year.
