Selena Gomez Talks Justin Bieber Baby Claims on 'Ellen,' Knew All Along
Selena Gomez has discussed the recent paternity suit against her longtime boyfriend, Justin Bieber, while appearing on “The Ellen Show.”
The show’s host Ellen DeGeneres immediately delved into the paternity charges against Bieber, which were dropped earlier this week.
“I have to ask before we talk about anything else… What a crazy last two weeks it’s been in the news,” DeGeneres began, and asked the 19-year-old actress, “You’ve been all right?”
“I have been, yeah,” Gomez responded.
DeGeneres pressed on further, asking, “Everything’s all good now. You knew that all along but it’s nice to have everything out in the open now.”
“Yeah, it’s good to just kind of… be good,” Gomez responded.
The young couple remains undaunted after the allegations by Mariah Yeater have subsided. The woman claimed that the 17-year-old singer impregnated her after a concert last year, and that he was the father of her 4-month-old son.
The suit was quietly dismissed, according to TMZ, a celebrity gossip website, which reported the news early Wednesday. The Christian Post did not manage to independently confirm the news.
The website also reported that Yeater's lawyers, Lance Rogers and Matt Pare, have withdrawn from the case.
Bieber's legal team vehemently denied the claims, and on NBC's "Today," Bieber told news anchor Matt Lauer that he does not know Yeater and has never met her. Bieber also claims that he is still a virgin.
The pop idol had reportedly been planning to take a paternity test, claiming he is unafraid of proving he was telling the truth. He also threatened to sue Yeater and her lawyers for false claims. Bieber is represented by Howard Weitzman.
If the lawsuit – followed closely by the singer’s fans across the globe – had not dissolved, and the DNA test would reveal that Bieber is the father, Yeater was expected to score major financial gains, experts have been saying. Yeater could potentially receive tens of thousands of dollars in monthly support until the child turned 18, People magazine reported.
Bieber continues to promote his new Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe, and will perform during the annual Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Center on Nov. 30. The event will air on NBC at 8 p.m. EST.
Selena Gomez's interview with Ellen DeGeneres will air on NBC's "The Ellen Show" Thursday at 4 p.m. EST.
