Selena Gomez to Host MTV Europe Music Awards 2011
American sweetheart, actress, and teen pop star Selena Gomez has been selected to host this year's MTV Europe Music Awards at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Ireland on Nov. 6.
Gomez shared her excitement with Contactmusic.com saying, "I'm so excited to be the host of the 2011 MTV EMA's – it's a dream come true. This is such a huge event that always recognizes the biggest stars in music across the globe, so it's a real honor to be MC at this year's show."
The young singer plans to "live tweet" throughout the show to globally connect the entire night with her fans. Gomez also says she will be giving behind-the-scenes secrets and providing commentary for the various activities of the night.
The nominations have already been announced, with Lady Gaga fronting all nominees with six. Bruno Mars and Katy Perry are in second place with four. Rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, soulful sensation Adele, and Justin Bieber, the boyfriend of Gomez, have three nominations a-piece.
Some of the big winners of this year's MTV American Music Awards were: Katy Perry for Video of the Year with "Firework," Tyler the Creator for Best New Artist Video with "Yonkers," Britney Spears for Pop Video with "Til the World Ends," and Lady Gaga for Female Video with "Born This Way."
Gomez herself has a pending nomination on the awards show for "Biggest Fans."
