Senators to 'Confiscate, Confiscate, Confiscate' Guns? Advocates Outraged at NJ Recording
Gun rights advocates are furious after a recording went public of a conversation between three New Jersey senators that was recorded at the end of a recent Senate meeting.
The audio was recorded during a Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee meeting on May 9, according to reports. This particular meeting was recorded and made part of the public record, but those caught on tape might have thought the microphone was off.
The four voices captured on the recording that was reported by the Blaze were thought to be Loretta Weinberg (D-37), Sandra Cunningham (D-31), Linda Greenstein (D-14), and Nellie Pou (D-35). They were discussing gun owners and their insistence on protecting the second amendment.

"They don't care about the bad guys. All they want to do is to have their little guns and do whatever they want with them," one of the women says on the recording.
"We need a bill that is going to confiscate, confiscate, confiscate," another female lawmaker says.
There has been no conformation as to whom the voices on the tape belong to, but Weinberg did respond to the controversy. She issued a statement explaining that solid ideas and not inflamed rhetoric should be the focus of the gun control debate.
"The advocates would be much better off not inflaming people," she said. "Nothing in this package of bills 'confiscates.' If people want to inflame folks rather than advocating on the reality of the situation, I can't do anything about it."
Scott Bach, executive director of the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs, felt the comments were divisive, misplaced and had no place in the current debate.
"We're outraged by this," Bach said. "These are the words of gun ban extremists and unfortunately they have the ear of the Senate president right now. The bill package that is coming up Monday in the full Senate needs to be held."
