Meanwhile, Williams older sister, Venus, lost to Kerber on the same day, 6-4, 6-4, in an hour and 12 minutes.
Remembering January's The Australian Open Finals when Serena lost three sets to Kerber (6-4, 3-6, 6-4), she surely would want to prove otherwise by aiming to win this Saturday's finals. Serena was victorious in five of the seven meetings against Kerber.
Grand Slam wins
After winning her sixth Wimbledon title three years ago, she intends to increase her Grand Slam count to 21. She is now nearing Steffi Graf's record of 22 wins, mostly in the Opera since 1986.
Kerber mentioned to BBC One, "I think right now I have a ot of experience from my last few years on tour and I'm enjoying my tennis life ate the moment . . . I'm just happy to be in my second grand slam final."
She added that she'll be more relaxed and more confident, thanks to her previous win over Serena. In discussing last January's Australian Open Finals, she said, "It's a completely new tournament . . . I will just try to go out there with a lot of confidence, trying to play my best tennis and trying to give everything I can in the final."
Kerber's advantage
Kerber is a sturdy player among the Wimbledon line-up. If she can keep up with neutral services like how things went in Melbourne, she may have an upper-hand advantage. But if Williams outperforms her better services, then Kerber will still be lucky to have at least lingered to the world's no. 1 tennis player.
