'Shameless' Season 8: Is It Time for Frank to Change His Ways?

Frank (William H. Macy) will decide if he wants to turn his life around following his beloved's death in the new season of "Shameless."

Spoilers claim that the new installment of the Showtime series will see Frank at the crossroads. When Monica (Chloe Webb) died due to brain damage last finale, he told the kids he loved her dearly. In Fiona (Emmy Rossum) and the others' eyes, Frank seemed more humane as he recalled how he met Monica and how they fell in love. There was a hint of hope in the air, as if it was the start of a monumental shift in the Gallaghers' dynamics.

Viewers saw Fiona and Frank actually talking and getting along nicely. Since Monica left them a sizable inheritance, thanks to the pieces of crystal meth she kept, there is a chance that Frank will decide to make things right and be an actual father to his kids. He has to do all the work, though, since everyone has already given up on him long ago. However, Inquisitr posits that Frank needs to die before things will become better for the Gallagher siblings.

As long as Frank is alive, he will reportedly continue to be a liability to his family. He will always drag them down, which will be a shame, considering how his kids have been working hard to live a decent life. Fiona is determined to make her real estate business succeed. Lip (Jeremy Allen White) wants to return to college, while Debbie (Emma Kenney) promises to attend her welding classes. Ian (Cameron Monaghan) is satisfied with his work and with boyfriend, Trevor (Elliot Fletcher).

Only Frank remains stuck in his hopeless world. It will be interesting to see how the writers will depict him in season 8. Whether they decide to end his life or make him change for the better, viewers are eager to see any type of progress in the Gallagher family.

"Shameless" is expected to return to Showtime in 2017.
