Shannen Doherty News: 'Charmed' Star Talks Recovery From Cancer

Shannen Doherty recently opened up about her successful bout with cancer.

Doherty, 46, was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015. After eight rounds of chemotherapy, radiation treatments and a single mastectomy, the actress has been in remission since April.

The "Charmed" star caught up with Us Weekly last month and she said staying away from negative thoughts significantly helped her recovery. "The thing about cancer is that you have to just keep plowing through because it can really sort of overtake you," she said.

Doherty is now back to work, filming scenes for the revival of her 1988 feature film, "Heathers." She is also looking forward to her next reconstructive surgery, although she admitted she is also a bit worried about the result. She explained, "I think anytime you go under the knife you're nervous."

As for her upcoming TV comeback, Doherty said her new project is something fans should be very excited about. "It's dark and wicked and witty and I did not think anybody could ever do 'Heathers' again but boy, did they prove me wrong," the actress added. "The writing is superb. The acting is amazing. Every single thing about the show is great."

The 10-episode "Heathers" reboot is scheduled to premiere in the first quarter of 2018. Doherty serves as a guest star for the show's first episode, but her role has yet to be revealed. A source told Life & Style on Friday that Doherty and her "Charmed" co-star Alyssa Milano are "hoping" to see the 1998 fantasy drama come back via Netflix or network TV.

Aside from "Charmed," Doherty is best known for her roles in "Mallrats," "Heathers" and "Beverly Hills, 90210."
