'Shantae: Half-Genie Hero' DLC Release Date: Rottytops and Friends Made Playable
The next downloadable content (DLC) coming to "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" is called "Friends to the End." The DLC will make Sky, Bolo and Rottytops as playable characters.
Set in the middle of the game's timeline, the "friends mode" fills in the gap in the story of the main campaign so this expansion is considered "official cannon." The official description reads:
Shantae has been turned to evil by the foul Risky Boots by way of a polarity-swapping machine, and is reborn as Nega-Shantae! Sky, Bolo, and Rottytops must enter Shantae's mind in order to rescue her consciousness from the "Nightmare Realm"; a series of twisted memories designed to swallow Shantae whole.

Players will be able to control Sky, Bolo and Rottytops and swap between the characters as they go through this "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" DLC. The challenge is that they do not have genie magic. Making things worse is the fact that the trio just can't get along.
"Friends to the End" will feature revamped versions of existing levels that will come in the form of altered memories. There will be a new final level that caps off with a showdown against Nega-Shantae.
Of course, Sky, Bolo, and Rottytops have unique abilities that will work best in a certain situation. Sky is quick and agile and has a bird Wrench to glide and make long jumps.
She can also attack enemies in this "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" DLC by throwing seagulls or eggs at them and can also use the Dream Magic ability to summon an orbiting flock of birds for extra defense.
Bolo, on the other hand, wields a spiked Bolo Chain that boasts medium range and decent speed. He can use the Spring Claw to take out enemies in the air but also clutch on to certain objects to swing around like a bionic ninja. Finally, Bolo can take advantage of the his pong-style Spike Ball ability to bounce diagonally at high speed.
As for Rottytops, the third character in the "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" DLC, she can use her zombie leg as a club that can deal a massive damage at short range.
She uses the Head Toss as a special move where she can "aim her head freely in any direction and toss it through certain barriers and over or under obstacles." She can also use the Dream Magic on her brain to replenish her Hearts.
